Ateliers Nomades was established in 1990. It was innovative in its teaching of computer graphics and computer-assisted architectural drawing.
In 1995, it became the first educational center in Switzerland to offer professional training in information technology (IT).
From the beginning, Ateliers Nomades’ goal was to be a technical center capable of identifying and responding to new economic needs and positioning itself upstream of the market’s demand in order to anticipate the evolution of technology and future demands of businesses.
The training offered is cutting-edge, yet still accessible to those seeking professional qualification and who wish to spread their wings.
Since 2001, Ateliers Nomades has offered professional-oriented IT training. Participants acquire an understanding of both the theory and the application of the best tools available, as well as of work processes and practices in the management of professional projects. The training is comprised of three quarter-long modules, each of which includes a final development project. The project allows participants to integrate their previous knowledge with their newly-acquired skills and to use professional work methods. The final project reflects the level of the newly-acquired knowledge and allows Ateliers Nomades to evaluate and accredit the skills for Certification.
IT training: options and modules
The program is based on two tracks of professional training in information technology that teach both theory and practice:
These two tracks are organized into three 30-day sessions and one 40-day session. The modular approach allows the program to be adapted to each participantÕs individual needs, objectives and rate of progression in mastering the tools.
In order to respond to the demand for specialized training aimed at professionals who wish to update their skills, Ateliers Nomades also offers the Levels Program, which provides intensive courses in specific fields such as:
• ActionScript 3.0, Object-oriented
programming, XML, Flash Lite, component development

• Programming in JAVA
• Databases in JAVA (JDBC)
Multimedia workshops on the conception, montage and production of video animations

Located today at rue de la Synagogue 40, in the heart of the economic center of Geneva, Nomades ateliers are equipped with 20 multimedia workstations, which are able to handle programs for the general public or for a very specialized audience.
